In Technology, students explore foundational skills in computer literacy, coding, digital citizenship, and multimedia creation. Each grade level is introduced to age-appropriate tools and concepts that develop their technological understanding and foster creativity. Through hands-on activities and project-based learning, students build problem-solving skills and prepare for an increasingly digital world.
Kindergarten: Students are introduced to basic computer concepts, such as using a mouse and keyboard, as well as simple interactive programs to build early technological skills.
1st Grade: Students begin learning basic coding principles through visual programming tools (e.g., Scratch Jr.) and practice identifying parts of a computer.
2nd Grade: Students advance their coding skills, learning to create simple algorithms and patterns using age-appropriate software, while also developing keyboarding skills.
3rd Grade: Students dive deeper into coding, learning to create interactive stories and games using Scratch or other coding platforms, while also exploring digital art and media.
4th Grade: Students begin working on more complex coding projects, such as creating simple websites, and delve into online safety, digital citizenship, and ethics.
5th Grade: Students continue exploring coding through projects that integrate multimedia elements, and learn about cloud computing and collaborative online tools.
6th, 7th & 8th Grade: Students engage in more advanced coding techniques, including building websites and apps, and develop skills in digital video production, graphic design, and virtual collaboration tools.
